All things are good and for your pleasure
Everything in the heavens and earth is created by God for your pleasure and good. You are to have dominion and rule over the creation. The creation is for your pleasure. What God created is good. Man (you) in your sinful nature has desired the pleasure of creation more than God. You enjoy the instant gratification of food, hobbies, sports, entertainment, parties, music, television, and self-indulgence more than God. Given a choice of God or the pleasure, you may choose the pleasure over the creator of the pleasure.Pleasures Are Meaningless
I thought in my heart, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.” But that also proved to be meaningless. “Laughter,” I said, “is foolish. And what does pleasure accomplish?” I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly-my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives. Ecclesiastes 2:1-3
He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. Job 36:10-12
The pleasures of life and the lusts of our flesh are filling. Jesus said that man does not live on food alone; it is the Word of God which we must eat which lasts forever. These lusts and pleasures of the eye and the cravings of man leave us empty with false fulfillment. God’s desire is that you would crave HIM and lust after the creator God to find total fulfillment. The cravings of this world are deceptive and false. The desires are counterfeit. Jesus said, “I am life.” He said HE came to give you life in abundance. The pleasures of this world are trying to tell you that buying a new car or a bigger house, getting a raise, having more money, getting a promotion or being the most popular is empty and false fulfillment. The seeking after God brings eternity versus temporal satisfaction.
Psalm 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:31-32
