Appointing a King

Appointing a King

When they had come, he looked on Eliab [the eldest son] and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him.

But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.
10 Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, The Lord has not chosen any of these.
11 Then [he] said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? [Jesse] said, there is yet the youngest; he is tending the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him; for we will not sit down to eat until he is here.
12 Jesse sent and brought him. David had a healthy reddish complexion and beautiful eyes, and was fine-looking. The Lord said [to Samuel], Arise,
anoint him; this is he.
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah. 1 Samuel 16:6-13 AMP
Just because you have been rejected does not mean you are not qualified for Kingship. Man’s rejection of you may be the exact qualification needed for you to be King. God is always looking at the heart. Man is always looking at physical appearance, feelings, senses and emotions. God’s condition for being a KING is your heart. God wants a heart after HIS HEART. HE is not looking for a heart which is looking for man’s approval and applause. HE wants everyone who totally, boldly, completely trusts HIM with everything.
Trust in the Lord with ALL of your HEART and don’t lean on your own feelings, senses and emotions. Acknowledge HIM and HE will direct your path.
Because of Saul’s failure, the Lord gave Samuel the responsibility to appoint the next King. David was rejected by his own father. When Samuel came to town and to Jesse’s house, David was not even invited to meet with Samuel.
Jesse paraded all of his sons before Samuel as possible picks for the next King of Israel. Jesse did not even consider David as a possible choice to be King of Israel. David was out working tending to the sheep. David was rejected by his earthly father so as to be appointed King over all of Israel.
The Spirit of the Lord comes upon you when you receive your position in Christ Jesus. You are appointed KING. You are given responsibility and authority in the KINGDOM to rule and reign. Your earthly rejection may be your qualification for HEAVENLY appointment into the KINGDOM of GOD.
