Are you a Slave or a Child called Son or Daughter?
- 4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. Galatians 4:4-7 NLT
Slave thinking is that your righteous standing with God is based upon your performance, not on the Completed Work of Jesus on the Cross and HIS Resurrection. This is the thinking that you can earn and perform your way into the Kingdom of God. Do good, be good, earns you righteous standing with God.
A slave can be owned by many people. As a son or daughter you cannot change your father or mother. They will always be your birth mother and father. When Jesus calls you HIS child you have moved from being from the slave women Hagar under the law which leads to sin and death into becoming HIS very own child spiritual born by Sarah. After being adopted by your Heavenly Father you cannot change from being a child of God. You will always be called a Son or Daughter by the Lord Jesus Christ. You have been adopted into the Kingdom of God.
Now since you are a child you also are an heir. Everything God has HE wants to give you. You are HIS child and HE wants the best for you. You are no longer a slave but a child. HE wants you to sit at HIS banquet table and eat with HIM. You have the Spirit of God living in you which is love, joy, peace, suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Everything you need has been given to you as a Child of God.
When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17You are God’s Son and Daughter and HE is well pleased with you. Your spiritual mother is Sarah, not the slave women Hagar.
15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”] 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.
You have been grafted into the Abraham lineage. But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree–some of the people of Israel–have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree. Romans 11:17
Today receive your special blessings as a child of God.
