Barabbas or Jesus: who will you choose?

Barabbas or Jesus: who will you choose?

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”

All the people answered, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!” Matthew 27:24-25

The world wants Barabbas over Jesus. The world is in rebellion against God. The Jews chose to free Barabbas and crucify Jesus. Which will you choose today, to serve Barabbas or Jesus Christ? Adam and Eve chose to listen to the serpent (devil) and disobeyed God. What voice do you hear? Do you hear the Word of God or the world? The world and its ways pass away. The person who does the will of God lives forever. Let the Word of God dwell in you richly so you do not rebel against God.

The devil taunted Eve, “did God really say not to eat from the any tree in the garden?” Resist the devil and he will flee. Quote back what God says in the Word of God. Speak out loud the Word of God. Imagine what would have happened if Adam said, “God ‘did say’ don’t eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or you will surely die. I trust God and will obey HIM. He is my creator and Lord. I will trust and follow HIS instructions. I will not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

Jesus’ blood is on the hands of the Jewish people who took Barabbas over Jesus. The messiah, the King, the Lord, the Ruler of Heavens and Earth was rejected. Man since Adam has been in rebellion against God seeking his own selfish ways. Jesus came to set you free. Even God sending His own Son to redeem the world was rejected by man. HE was spit on, mocked and beaten. Are you spitting on Jesus? Are you mocking Jesus? Are you choosing Barabbas (the world’s way) or Jesus (the Kingdom of God’s way)? Is Jesus’ blood (guilt) on your hands or has HE washed you clean with HIS sacrificial blood?

Jesus’ death and resurrection frees you from the power of sin and death. Sin has no control over you. Death and fear have no control over you. Christ has set you free and you are free indeed. How many times do you wash your hands per day? Each time you wash your hands, at the same time wash your heart in the cleansing blood of Christ Jesus that you may stand in the presence of HIS HOLY throne spotless and clean. Wash that complaining attitude away, wash the regrets away, wash the fear away, wash the guilt away, wash the sin away and put on the Crown of Righteousness awaiting you, the adopted child of the risen Christ. Put on the Truth of the Word of God and wear it wherever you go today. Stand on the promises of God and choose Jesus over Barabbas today.
