Church under persecution grows

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord. Acts 9:31

Recently someone commented that a church burned down. Certainly I wanted to know, did all the people die in the fire? No, the building burned, but the people survived. We often misinterpret the definition of church. The church is more than a building, it is God’s people. When the Church actually burns down the people are also killed. The Church is the body of Christ working.

Are you under persecution in your family, workplace, community, or with friends for being a follower of Jesus Christ?

The CHURCH grows under persecution. In this passage believers are being put to death and imprisoned for testifying about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Are you willing to give full testimony before the courts about what Jesus Christ has done in your life? Stephen died giving his testimony. Stephen was stoned for his testimony to the religious people. “You resisted the Holy Spirit and killed the Righteous One,” Stephen told them.

Are you living in fear of man or in fear of God? Man can only destroy the body. God can destroy the body and soul for eternity. Don’t give up. Never give up!

Saul witnessed Stephen’s stoning. Saul’s mission before his conversion was to kill the believers of Jesus Christ. However, following his changed life Saul (Paul) grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving Jesus is Christ.

Are you proving Jesus is Christ in the marketplace? Are you standing as a witness to the transformed redeemed life that is Christ Jesus? Persecution is to be expected in a fallen world. Man does not want to confess his sin and rebellion against God. Man wants to be god.

God has promised HE will never leave you nor forsake you. The truth of the Gospel changes lives. Go today and prove Jesus is Christ! Walk today in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the power of the resurrection. Proclaim Jesus is Lord. Let the light of Christ shine through your work, speech and actions. Show God’s love and mercy to others as HE gave HIS Son for you. Prove to any and all you have contact with today that Jesus is Christ.
