Contempt, disobedience and tested ten times

Contempt, disobedience and tested ten times

How many times do you need to be tested to change your ways? God has promised to you HIS promised land of rest filled with milk and honey.

The LORD replied, “I have forgiven them, as you asked. 21 Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the LORD fills the whole earth, not one of the men who saw my glory and the miraculous signs I performed in Egypt and in the desert but who disobeyed me and tested me ten timesnot one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their forefathers. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it. But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.” Numbers 14:20-24

The Israelites treated God with contempt and will never enter the land God had promised them. Contempt is an intense feeling or attitude regarding someone or something as inferior, baseless, or worthless-it is similar to scorn. It is also used when people are being sarcastic. Contempt is also defined as the state of being despised or dishonored; disgrace, and an open disrespect or willful disobedience of the authority of a court of law or legislative body.

Caleb entered the land Promised because he honored God and followed HIM with all of his heart (wholeheartedly). Caleb had a spirit other than contempt. He had a Spirit of praise, honor, worship, thankfulness, gratefulness, appreciation, wonder, hope, fearlessness and awe toward God. Caleb had the Spirit of God living in him. Caleb knew and believed the promises of God. He lived with the hope for a better tomorrow rather than in fear, regret, worry and despair which is where the enemy of God wants you defeated.

How many times do you need to be tested through the miracles and wonders of God? Have you seen God working, yet still  filled with fear and doubt? He has promised HIS rest/land to you as a believer. HE wants you to trust HIM wholeheartedly. Wholeheartedly is marked by a total commitment with sincere and complete devotion with enthusiasm.
