Desire to Worship

Desire to Worship

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
What is the desire of your heart?
God made you to worship. HE is a jealous God. HE created the heavens and earth. HE is HOLY GOD. HE is KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS. You are not to have any other gods above HIM.
Are you able to worship GOD above all your cravings and the lusts of your eyes? Do you have the same desire in your heart to worship God as you have for food? Do you have the same desire in your heart to worship God as you have selfish desires? Do you have the same desire in your heart to worship God as you have sexual desires?
What was in King David’s heart? What was the desire of David’s heart? Here is David, a murderer and adulterer, yet by the grace of God David was forgiven of his sin. When David sinned, he was open to correction through confession and repentance. David had a heart after God’s own heart. He desired to worship God. The desire of David’s heart was one of worship.
In view of God’s mercy, the following is the way to worship:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2
God wants to give you the desires of your heart. Can you tell the difference when someone is speaking to you from his heart or just speaking meaningless words?
Lord I choose to worship you today. You are Holy God. You are the creator, redeemer and sustainer of life. You are the God of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Rehab, Caleb, Joshua, Moses, Gideon, Mary, Peter, Paul, and David and you are my God. I choose to worship today you more than my circumstance. My sacrifice to you today is a sacrifice of praise and my offering is to lay my selfish desires, pride, arrogance, and independent spirit on your altar and give up my rights for your perfection and righteousness to be glorified through me today.
Thank you for loving me and forgiving me of my sin. Thank you for being my Father and calling me your child. May I honor you today as you have given your unconditional love for the world.
My desire above every other desire is to WORSHIP YOU.
