Do you have eyes but do not see?

As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

“Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”

Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately theyreceived their sight and followed him. Matthew 20: 29-34

Your eyes are a reflection of your heart and soul. You have eyes but cannot see the things of God. The world has caused you to go blind. Your eyes are open but you only see the created. You don’t see the creator – the author, redeemer and sustainer of life. The things of God are hidden from the spiritually blind.

The two blind men may have been the only ones who could truly see spiritually. Their physical blindness (circumstance) had caused them to not see the world. They shouted and begged for mercy.

What does shouting for mercy look like? Jesus came to bring sight to the blind. His desire is mercy not sacrifice. Your sin nature causes spiritual blindness. You were born into the family of Adam and Eve and have the stain of sin in your blood. It can only be washed and cleansed through the forgiveness of sin by Jesus Christ. His blood shed on the cross as payment for your sin has set you free. You now can see. You have spiritual sight and are no longer blind. God through HIS son has had mercy on you. Your guilt, shame, regret and fear are gone. You can find rest in your soul with your redeemer Christ Jesus.

Are you shouting and begging for mercy? Are you shouting and begging for mercy for your family? Are you shouting and begging for mercy for the nations? Are you shouting and begging for the Church? Are you shouting and begging for mercy for commerce?
