Are you seeking for others to envy you? Do you want others to wish they could be like you or look like you?
Pride goes before a great fall. Satan wanted to be like God. Satan wanted to be worshipped, loved and envied. Do you desire others to worship you because of your leadership position in your family, work, community and Church? This is an easy trap to which to fall victim. Do you see yourself as being superior to others? Do you find yourself looking down on others who have less, make less, look less attractive and appear to be less fortunate?
And do not envy an evil man, neither desire any of his ways. Proverbs 3:31.
We are to have no other idols before God. God is a jealous God. HE wants your full worship. HE wants your undivided worship. When you are seeking to be envied by others, lifted up by others, and exalted by others, this becomes a form of self-worship filled with the Pride of Life.
The desire to be envied is rooted in pride in which a person thinks too highly of himself. It is no surprise that a person filled with self-envy and pride is totally unaware of it. The heart is deceitful and will disguise self-envy and pride. The deceitful heart will want you to believe that it is by your strength, power and might that causes wealth, honor, power, position and greatness.
Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. 1 Chronicles 29:12
Wealth and honor come from God. God is to be envied because of HIS Power and Strength. It is God who exalts and lowers. Seek first God’s Kingdom and HIS righteousness. Envy God, fear God, praise God, worship God and seek God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. When you seek HIM you will find HIM when you seek HIM with all your heart.
Envy the ways of God and seek HIM. HIS benefits are love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, faithfulness and contentment.
