Fear of Death Removed
59 They continued stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive and accept and welcome my spirit!” 60 Then falling on his knees [in worship], he cried out loudly, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them [do not charge them]!” When he had said this, he fell asleep [in death].
Acts 7:59-60 AMP
Jesus said to her, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, relies on) Me [as Savior] will live even if he dies;
John 11:25 AMP
Stephen loved not his physical life even unto physical death knowing he had spiritual eternal life. Stephen understood his identity in Christ. He knew that physical death was not separation from God. He was born again with the Holy Spirit living in him. Christ in Stephen allowed him to forgive those who were stoning him.
We are trained by the lies of this world that death in this world is more important than life in Christ. As disciples of Christ born again with a New Nature, we are restored into Spiritual Life and Unity in Christ through the Holy Spirit. We have Spiritual Life through the blood of Jesus Christ which was taken away and removed at the fall. God said, “surely you will die” if you disobey my word. When Adam and Eve sinned, they did not die physically. They died spiritually and were separated from the Father.
The finished work on the cross removes our slavery to the Fear of Death. We read in Hebrews 2 from two different versions, the NIV and the Amplified.
Hebrews 2:14-15 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he tood shared in their humanity so that by his death he might beak the power of him who hold the power of death (that is the devil) 15 and free those who all their lives were
held in slavery by their fear of death. NIV
AMP Hebrews 2:14-15 14 Therefore, since [these His] children share in flesh and blood [the physical nature of mankind], He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same [physical nature, but without sin], so that through [experiencing] death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death-that is, the devil- 15 and [that He] might
free all those who through [the haunting] fear of death were held in slavery throughout their lives.
Jesus came to free mankind from slavery to the fear of death. The fear and bondage of death has been rendered ineffective and impotent. Spiritual life in the Holy Spirit is greater than physical life in this world. Life in Christ is better than the anxiety, fear, worry, regret and fear of death found in the lies of this world.
Christ in you is the hope of Glory. HE is the Truth and Life living in you now. The threat of death is removed receiving God’s Agape Love. You can enter God’s presence now because of what Jesus Christ did. Jesus defeated the dominion of darkness and the fear of death. HE came to give you Life Abundantly, now. His Holy Spirit lives in you.
