“Helping People Fulfill God’s Plan For Their Lives Through Business”

“Filled up”

Years ago when gas stations were known as “service” stations and attendants manned the pumps, the common greeting was “filler up please.”

Ephesians 5:18 expresses a similar divine instruction. “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Is this scripture an admonishment or an encouragement? It is actually both. However, sometimes we never get past the admonishment. You can get bound up in religious thinking. You can think it’s about drinking wine or getting drunk. No, no, no, no, it’s about being filled up with the Holy Spirit. “Filler up with the Holy Spirit please!” This scripture is an encouragement in what to do. You are to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Are you settling for things which are temporary? Are you settling for desires which only gratify for a short time or provide instant pleasure? Are you walking in the Spirit or in the flesh? Which is better?

Take the focus off what not to do and focus on what to do, which is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. As a born-again believer in Christ Jesus, the Spirit of God is living in you. Most times we are feeding our mind and flesh with “do not thinking” rather than feeding the Spirit of God with “do this thinking.” Let the Word of God dwell in you richly. Here are some scriptures paraphrased with what to do:

Jesus said be on guard against all kinds of greed, but be filled with the Holy Spirit, “filler up please.”

Jesus said life does not consist in the abundance of wealth; instead be filled with the Holy Spirit, “filler up please.”

Do not love this world or anything in this world; instead be filled with the Holy Spirit, “filler up please.”

The cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does comes from the world; instead be filled with the Holy Spirit, “filler up please.”

Don’t lean on your own understanding, knowledge and reasoning; instead be filled with the Holy Spirit, “filler up please.”

Stop walking by sight, but be filled with the Holy Spirit, “filler up please.”

The Holy Spirit living in you is active and alive. Your filled gas tank of the Holy Spirit gives you power to testify of God’s redeeming love. It gives you the power to love and forgive the unloving. It gives you the power to have a sound mind. It removes fear and allows you to live with joy, peace and contentment today.

Father God fill me with your Holy Spirit today.
