Free Speech

We do have freedom of speech, however, “Everything is permissible”–but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”–but not everything is constructive. 1 Corinthians 10:23

You can speak death or life out of your mouth. There is power in your tongue.

Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love to talk will have to eat their own words.

The words you speak will be what you eat. Would you rather eat death or life? You have free speech to bless, curse and speak life or death.

We have freedom of speech, yet not everything we say brings Glory and Honor to God. There are some who have learned to speak without any regard just to get their feelings, through words, off their chest without restraint.

Many of us have learned the saying: “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” This statement is only half true. Words do harm and hurt. The harmful, careless words spoken over you by your parents, siblings, co-workers, neighbors, friends, spouse and family do hurt. There is death and life in the power of the tongue.

The Good News is that Jesus Christ on the cross broke and redeemed you from these words spoken over you. As a born-again follower of Christ, your identity is in Christ Jesus as a child of God. HE is in you and you are in HIM.

Jesus is the word and became flesh. This is what the Lord says. “No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, said the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17

HIS word says, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1.

Lord set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable to you O Lord, My God, My Savior and Redeemer.
