How Are You Known?

A tree is known by its fruit, such as an orange tree, apple tree or lemon tree. Likewise a person will be known by the overflow of his mouth.

What is in your heart will come out of your mouth.

As you read the following scripture, identify the tree as your heart and the fruit as your mouth.

43 For there is no good (healthy) tree that bears decayed (worthless, stale) fruit, nor on the other hand does a decayed (worthless, sickly) tree bear good fruit.

44 For each tree is known and identified by its own fruit; for figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor is a cluster of grapes picked from a bramblebush.

45 The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:43-45

Your mouth is an expression of the condition of your heart especially when you are under pressure.

What is coming out of your mouth? What is stored up in your heart? Are you harboring bitterness, unforgiveness, hurt, anger, revenge, rejection, greed, covetousness, selfish desire, power, injustice, fear, loss, loneliness, abuse, disbelief, doubt and hardness of heart?

The good treasure of your salvation is stored in your heart. Jesus Christ has redeemed you and set you free from sin and death. This is a time of celebration, thanksgiving and gratefulness.

Your mouth will determine how you are known. The fruit of God’s Spirit living in you and you in HIM is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The word of God is near you and is in your heart. The word of God overflows out of your heart through your mouth. You will be known by the fruit of your mouth.
