How to get peace

Where do you get peace?

Jesus said in John 14: 26, “I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

You cannot buy the peace which God gives you. You cannot earn this peace. It is a gift God gives you.

We all desire to have our mind and soul rest from emotions, anxiety, and fear. There is not a pill you can take to give you this kind of rest/peace. This comes from the Spirit of God living in you. We are made up of three parts: Spirit, Soul and Body. God made you in HIS image of peace and love, not of worry and fear.

Paul writing from prison explains how and where to get peace, a peace which transcends all understanding, in Philippians 4:

  • 4   Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
  • 5   Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
  • 6   Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
  • 7   And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This gift of peace which God gives the born again follower of Christ is the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. In Christ Jesus comes a peace which transcends all understanding. No matter what the circumstance, problem, or situation the Kingdom of God is Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit.

You cannot manufacture peace; it only comes through Jesus Christ dwelling in you. If you lack peace, you may be focused on the problem or circumstance and not the author and giver of peace. When you change your focus to Christ and HIS redeeming love, mercy, and grace, acknowledging all HE has done for you on the cross, you can know the peace which passes all understanding. You can enter into HIS HOLY PLACE Boldly because of Christ in you.

You can rejoice in your salvation knowing that Jesus Christ redeemed you from all your sin. HE has healed you. HE says to come to HIM to find REST for your anxious soul.

Jesus said, 28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
