I Did It My Way
I Did It My Way – With Pride And Arrogance
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 1Timothy 6:17
How would you like your funeral song to be “My Way” by Frank Sinatra?
Below are some lyrics from the song. Here is your song as you enter into eternity with either God or eternal torment.
And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way
For what is a man what has he got
If not himself then he has not
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way
Yes it was my way.
“I did it my way” is the theme song for those who choose the broad road which leads to eternal death and destruction. “I did it my way” is the theme song of the enemy of God. “I did it my way” is the root cause of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. This has been man’s fatal desire – to “do it my way” versus Holy God’s way. Man’s rebellion against Holy God is a major theme of the bible along with God’s restoration and redemption of sinful man.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:7
Look at this theme song written by King David, a man after God’s own heart:
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3
The theme song which God likes to hear is a broken and contrite heart. He will not be displeased. Your brokenness, surrender and repentance for doing it your way is a sweet, sweet sound to the ear of the Lord. Your broken and contrite heart is a scent and smell which is pleasing to the Lord. Your full and complete trust in the Lord brings delight to the Lord.
