Land of Blessings
Land of Blessings
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7.
God gave the Hebrew nation an earthly inheritance and promised them earthly blessings. All they had to do was enter into and possess the land. God did not want His people living in the wilderness any longer. They had been there for about 40 years because of murmuring and complaining and disobedience and unbelief. Now they were commanded to move out with renewed dedication and claim that good land–the land that “flowed with milk and honey.” The Lord promised them victory over Jericho and over the whole land. He also promised them His constant presence with them. There was no need to be afraid or dismayed.
This is the picture of the Christian life! As a believer, you are God’s people. He has given you a heavenly inheritance and all kinds of spiritual blessings. He has given you the milk and honey to enjoy if you will enter into the land HE promised you as part of your Christian living. If you are murmuring, complaining, and filled with unbelief, you are destined to experience “desert living.”
Are you waiting to get to heaven to claim the land of blessings (Promised Land)?
God wants you to “cross the Jordan” now. He wants you to claim the blessings HE promised in Christ right now. This is what Ephesians 1:3 means when it says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hasblessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly placeswith Christ.”
Have you claimed all your spiritual blessings? The “Promised Land” is yours for the taking. Have you claimed victory and taken your territory? Christians who are afraid to die have not fully claimed their security in Christ. Christians who are worried about their future are not really appropriated the “rest of soul” which is available in Christ. A Christian who is always complaining and discontented has not really experienced the joy and peace of the Kingdom. A Christian who can never get along with his brothers and sisters in the Lord has not really walked in the land of overwhelming love which is available to every Christian.
Satan knows that the frustrated Christian is an ineffective Christian. He also knows that the Christian who is enjoying the blessings of Christ is a Christian who is moving out and spreading the Kingdom of God. Therefore, Satan will do anything in his power to keep you defeated and scared and “throwing in the towel.” God has promised you victory and HIS personal presence. There is no need to fear or doubt.
Are you living in the desert with a secret sin or “I don’t care” attitude? Or have you taken the Promised Land in which Christ has given you HIS Spirit of power, love and a sound mind? The walls of Jericho will fall down as you put into practice the Word of God into your circumstance.
