Power of Forgiveness
Power of Forgiveness
“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts (sin), as we also have forgiven our debtors (others sin). And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:9-15
God’s supernatural power is released to you through forgiveness. Are you living a forgiven life? Are you holding back forgiving someone?
God did not give you a spirit of fear but a Spirit of power and love and a sound mind. An unforgiving spirit will render the Spirit of God powerless. An unforgiving spirit will dilute your thinking.
All sustaining, enduring and lasting relationships involve forgiveness. Enduring relationships cannot survive without forgiveness. Your relationship with God is through the sacrifice of Jesus for your sin. God gave HIS only son as payment for the forgiveness of your sin. When you accept the payment (Jesus Christ), salvation begins and the changing life starts. When you confess your sin, God is faithful and just to forgive your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
God promises, if you forgive men their sin, then HE will forgive you. Are you seeking freedom from sin and the power to live the abundant life in Christ? God fills up what was taken from you. HE fills you with overflowing love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness and patience. Your kindness toward the people who offended you through the power of God’s Spirit may convict them of their sin toward you. Kindness is the fruit of forgiveness. It is like heaping coals on a fire. Kindness toward the ones who offended you allows you to walk in the power of God’s Spirit.
Lord I bow before you recognizing you have forgiven me. Help me to forgive. I have been hurt. I feel rejected and damaged by this person’s words and actions. I release this person and situation to you Lord. I choose to forgive. I want your forgiveness to live in me today. Help me to walk today in the power of forgiveness as you loved me and died for me. Thank you Lord Jesus!
