Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and provide me with a spirit of willing obedience. Psalm 5:12
Rejoice in your wealth! Rejoice in your house! Rejoice in your position! Rejoice in your family! Rejoice in your marriage!
No, No, No! The Word of God is telling us to Rejoice in HIM. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4. The Lord, HE alone, is joy, strength and confidence. Rejoice in your salvation. Certainly you are thankful for these earthly things but we rejoice in the eternal HIM, not in the temporal.
The Joy of the Lord is eternal, grounded in your salvation. If you find joy in a car, when the car is stolen or damaged you lose your joy. Happiness is temporal. Joy is found in the person of Jesus Christ. Joy comes from within through the Spirit of God living in you. HIS SPIRIT has taken up residence in you. This is the joy of your salvation which makes you want to shout and tell everybody.
Your salvation is eternal. David cried out, “Restore to me the Joy of your salvation.” David had lost the joy, not his salvation. He wanted the joy restored. He knew he was saved. He had lost his joy through disobedience and sin.If all of those things – wealth, health, work, family and marriage were removed, would your joy be lost? You can have joy in the midst of whatever your circumstance or problem.
Your joy and peace only come in Christ. Here is what Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
You can choose Joy and Peace in the promises and blessings of your salvation through Christ Jesus or you can choose death, destruction, rejection, hurt, revenge, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, rebellion and selfish desire.
Choose this day WHO you will serve. I choose to serve life, hope, joy, and peace in my Lord Jesus Christ who redeemed me and overcame this world. Greater is HE who is in me than he who is in this world.
