Risk-taking versus recklessness

Risk is having the faith to try something new knowing it might be hard and you could fail. Are you willing to risk your life trusting God or live a reckless life trusting in your own ways?

You cannot stay where you are and go with God. Going with God is taking risk. In the parable of the talent, the servant who hid his talent was thrown into utter darkness. He was called lazy, wicked and worthless. He was reckless. God told us to rule over HIS creation to take dominion. This is a statement of action. Recklessness is following your own plans versus God’s plans. Hiding your skills, abilities and gifts is reckless. God has given you HIS DIVINE power and abilities which lives in you through the Holy Spirit to show HIS love to others.

Joshua took a risk in crossing the Jordan River and entering into the Promised Land. God reminded Joshua that the Promised Land had been promised to the Israelites. It was their territory. God has told you to take dominion and rule over HIS creation so as to bring glory and honor to HIM. Joshua’s success in taking the Promised Land did not rest on military might but on the faithfulness of God.

Joshua 1:3 “I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.”

Not following God’s word is reckless. God also gave Joshua the Book of the Law (God’s written Word). Joshua 1:8 “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Following God’s Word leads to success.

God promised Joshua to go with him wherever he went. Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” God was with Joshua as he crossed to take possession of Promised Land.

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:6-9

Are you willing to take a risk stepping out and trusting God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength? Are you trusting God or being reckless?
