The Oak Tree.

The Oak Tree

When you look around you realize there are a lot of oak trees. You probably also realize it takes time, patience and perseverance to produce an oak tree. Do you realize it takes love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control to produce a mature Christian?Oak trees start producing acorns when they are 20 years old, but sometimes can go all the way to 50 years before the first production. By the time the tree is 70 to 80 years old it will produce thousands of acorns. The chances of one acorn making it to become an oak tree are very slim — less than 1 in 10,000. That means for every 10,000 acorns, only 1 will become a tree! The tree that makes it to full growth will take another 20 to 50 years to achieve full production.

Are you willing to be the 1 in 10,000?

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14

Are you willing to persevere and not give into the temptations of this world? As Ambassadors we are called to represent our home country – the Kingdom of God. This world will pass away but the person who does the will of God will live forever. We rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

“How long will it take for you to recognize that you cannot bear fruit unless you are connected to the vine? Maybe it takes you 20 years before you produce fruit. I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 14:1-4

Jesus told you to go bear fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. He did not say it would be easy. He did not say to the Oak Tree it would be easy. There are storms of life that knock down Oak Trees. There are storms that will knock you down. As long as you remain attached to the vine, you will continue to produce the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control.

Remember you are a dearly loved child of God. Seek HIM and you will find HIM when you seek HIM with all of your heart. As your faith is tested and the Word of God is planted into your life, you will mature from having your sin forgiven to gaining victory over sin as a mature growing Christian. Don’t give up because you fall back into temptation; get back up and seek HIM who overcame sin and death.
