What is Profit?

What is Profit?

Profit, gain and wealth come in learning to be content in whatever your circumstance. We have been taught a lie which is that godliness is a means to great gain, profit and wealth.
These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy. Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 1 Timothy 6:5-6 NLT
For some, wealth, gain, prosperity and profit is the motive of the heart, not godliness. Jesus said to seek first HIS Kingdom, not to seek first gain, profit and wealth.
Paul is saying that godliness with contentment is great gain. Godliness is great gain. Surrendering your life to Christ is great gain. Living a life in Christ is great gain. Receiving the gift of righteousness is great gain. Receiving the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ is great gain.
Paul goes on to say while he was in prison to rejoice in the Lord always. Godliness with contentment is great gain. Paul also explains the danger of wanting to get rich. You fall into traps, temptations and many foolish desires which lead to ruin, disrespect, moral failure, and destruction of reputation, relationships and loss of gain, wealth and profit.
The Apostle Paul in prison had great gain. Be careful in assuming because you have profit this means God is with you. Your eternal security is not in material, gain and prosperity; it is in the treasures which have been advanced in eternity. It is the Kingdom of God’s seeds planted in lives which last for eternity. Your gain, wealth and prosperity is as a child of the King. Can HE trust you with HIS true riches by being a faithful servant?
So many times we are seeking the profit, gain and wealth more than seeking the King, Lord, Creator, Redeemer, Master and Savior. God’s covenant is to give you wealth to further HIS Kingdom, not yours. Profit is only found in godly contentment resting in Christ Jesus.
