What is the worst thing that can happen to you?

What do you worry about? What do you worry about losing?Do you fear divorce, bankruptcy, foreclosure, loss of job, loss of child, loss of reputation, loss of health, loss of home, loss of respect, loss of money, loss of social status?

What if you lost everything – your home, your family, your wealth, your reputation, your job, and your health?

What is the worst thing that can happen to you?

Here is a better question: What is the best thing that can happen in your life?

The best thing that can happen to you is your sincere recognition and confession that you are a sinner. You recognize your need to be forgiven of your sin. You have rebelled against God and you repent of your sin. You invite Jesus to be Lord of your life. You ask HIM to forgive you of your sin and wash you clean. You invite HIM into your heart. The best thing that can happen in your life is to move from a temporal life in this world to an eternal life with Jesus Christ. Jesus came to give you life and to have it more abundantly.

The best thing that can happen in your life is for you to desire and pursue God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength. You want to know HIM. You want to seek HIS face.

Are you seeking the Kingdom of God and HIS Righteousness in your life?

Are the worries and cares of this world choking out the Word of God in your life? How much time are you spending worrying about your relationship with God? Are you more concerned about your potential loss in this world or your loss of eternity? What does it profit you if you gain the whole world yet lose your own soul?

The best thing you can do is love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. When you focus on the best thing that has happened to you, when you praise God and thank HIM for your salvation and forgiveness of sin, you will not have time to worry about the worst things that can happen to you. Your love of God and others will trump the worry and cares of this world. God’s Spirit working in your life will produce love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
