Wicked and Lazy

Have you ever been called wicked and lazy? Why did Jesus call the servant wicked and lazy?
“Then the man who had received the one talent came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
‘Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ ” Matthew 25:24-30
When you operate in the realm of security and comfort, your talents are hidden. Whenever your talents are hidden, you will experience complacency, stress, anxiety, emptiness, a false sense of security and a lack of fulfillment. It may take a great depression to make people realize they are hiding their talents and the master will call them wicked and lazy.
The fear of the Lord is a positive fear. The fear of anything else is a negative fear. If you do not fear the Lord you will become a victim of negative fear. The fear of the Lord eliminates being overtaken by the fear of anything else. It causes you to have faith in him, obey him and rest in him.
The master is calling you wicked and lazy if you do not increase your talents. The master gave you talents based upon your abilities. The master is concerned with where you have come from compared to where you are now. If you came from a broken family, have physical disabilities, speech problems, loss of job, health issues, bankruptcy, sexual abuse, drug or alcohol addiction or other issues, the master wants to know where are you now? If you have a Harvard MBA, where are you now? How are you impacting the Kingdom of God? Is Jesus Christ going to have more brothers and sisters because of you putting your talents to work?
You want to hear the Master say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
