Words are a condition of the heart
Where are your words coming from?
Your mouth is a mirror that reflects the condition of your heart.
“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:33-37
Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him ‘unclean,’ but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him ‘unclean.’
“Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’ ” Matthew 15:10-11,16-20
Life and death lie in the power of the tongue. Your mouth can praise or curse God. Your mouth can bring hope, restoration, forgiveness, life, and healing. Are your words a symphony of praise or are you cursing with the tone of your words? Are you whining and complaining about the condition, circumstance or problems in your life? Are your words reflecting the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ in your life?
You are a redeemed, restored, forgiven child of God. You are a son and daughter of the Lord Jesus Christ sitting on the throne next to HIM. The hope of your salvation through Jesus Christ is singing through your mouth of praise.
“Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.” Psalm 141:3
